I’ve finally been caught by covid, and it’s been 3 days since Ava had a walk.

And she’s fine.

Why? Because in our training, I have heavily focused on settling within the house.

We also use other forms of enrichment to keep her mind and body occupied while stuck indoors – training sessions, food games, raw bones to chew, etc.

I’ve also reduced her daily food to reflect the reduced level of exercise so she doesn’t have excess energy to burn.

If your dog tears the house apart and drives you mad if not given a walk, then you need to focus on training structure and settling indoors. Only relying on physically tiring out your dog means you’ll be in real trouble the next time you’re sick or the weather is too extreme for that walk.
