I come from a background in academia, with an MSc in Biology in which I studied animal behaviour and communication. I’ve always had a fascination with animals and how they think and learn. I also have my Level 3 diploma in Dog Behaviour from the British College for Canine Studies. But learning from books can only take you so far. I truly got my hands-on start in dog training via fostering for a foreign rescue. I helped foster dogs through issues such as separation anxiety, reactivity, and resource guarding. I continued to grow my skills and knowledge via shadowing top trainers who have been in the industry for decades. I started Clarity Canine Education to help struggling dog owners achieve success and live better lives with their dogs. I do this by giving owners the skills, tools, and knowledge needed to live a fuller, stress-free life with their dog.
A unique aspect of training with me is that I have an extensive background in teaching – I have taught and tutored biology and maths for over 10 years at high school and university level. While being great with dogs is necessary to be a good dog trainer, I believe it is equally important to be a good teacher to effectively educate owners and break down complex concepts. Working with owners perfectly combines my love for training dogs with my passion for helping and teaching, empowering my clients not just with the methods they need for their dog, but also the knowledge of why the methods work based on how their dog learns.
The old saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is a myth. A puppy or dog of any age can learn new behaviours. Likewise, while some breeds may be harder to train than others, no breed is “untrainable”. I also have a passion and extensive experience in helping foreign rescue adopters. No matter your dog’s breed, age, or background, I’m here to help with expert advice and support.
No two dogs are the same. In your first session with me, I will work with you to fully understand your dog’s needs and your goals. Whether you’re looking to establish better obedience or solve complicated behaviour problems like reactivity or resource guarding, I will build a tailored training plan that is right for you.
I offer both in-person training to help those local to me and online training to help owners anywhere in the world.
I offer services covering puppy training, general obedience, recall, lead walking, reactivity, resource guarding, separation anxiety, confidence building, and behavioural modification. Send us a message to chat about how I could help with your situation.
Sessions are held in an outdoor space in Widnes, WA8. If you would like to discuss a home visit, please send a message.
